Release Notes

This release of the Mud Designer Engine contains a massive re-write of many of the engines components. While the GUI Designer has been removed, several important features of the engine have been greatly improved and new features have been added. The engine contains dozens of new methods and properties that will allow for quick and easy creation of MUD worlds.
Included with this release is a pre-compiled demonstration server that can be ran and connected to via a telnet client. It also includes source code to two examples, one for offline MUD creation and one for online server creation.

Please note that only environment objects can be created at this time. The GUI Designer will be added in the near future once game object creation is fully implemented.
  • Networking
    • Telnet Server fully implemented.
    • Client connection fully implemented.
    • Server commands to send and receive messages to/from the client for use with commands. Allows getting user input and sending content back to the player without ever leaving the command method.
    • Fully implemented into the core Game class.
  • Game Management
    • The Game now manages the initialization of all the engine components such as the Script Engine, Command Engine, Network server and World setup.
    • Game now supports Initial environments.
    • Commands no longer need to return Object Types that must be boxed/unboxed during runtime.
    • Commands fully support the new Player.Send() method for sending messages to the player.
  • Game Objects
    • Rooms, Zones and Realm creation simplified.
    • Linking of Rooms simplified, only requires a single line of code.
    • Multi-line descriptions are now supported via BaseObject.DetailDescription property.
    • All Objects have custom save code now implemented to provide better backwards compatibility support in the future. The old XML Serialization saving has been removed.
